We are very fortunate and spoiled with so many amazing cafes, eateries and restaurants in the city centre that serve fresh and delicious meals that are worth racing out to when we get out of lockdown.

In no particular order, the following 10 restaurants are, according to our Facebook fans, the most exciting restaurants in the city centre that everyone should add to their top restaurants bucket list!


White + Wong's | 149 Quay Street Cnr Lower Hobson & Quay Street

With bright, bold and fresh Asian flavours and some of the best harbour views in town, this is definitely an eatery to get excited about. 

Our food pick: Crispy fried chicken with sticky chilli sauce, $18.


Vivace | 85 Fort Street

Vivace has been a successful inner city restaurant for over 20 years with a lively, warm ambience, excellent table service, a superb wine list and a menu which caters for diverse palates.

Our food pick: Margarita pizza with tomatoes, basil & fresh mozzarella, $18.


Soul Bar & Bistro | Viaduct Harbour, Lower Hobson Street, Customs Street West

Soul is in the heart of Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, with a focus on the finest, freshest local ingredients.

Our food pick: Beef short rib ragù, pappardelle with chilli and torched raclette, $37.

Federal Delicatessen

Federal Delicatessen | 86 Federal Street

Al Brown has put his spin on Jewish deli food - go here for the best Reuben sandwiches in town, and New York cheesecake. 

Our food pick: The 3 way - choose a combo of 3 of their drool worthy pies (NY cheesecake, lemon meringue pie, banana & toffee pie or Sarah's pecan pie), $21.


Cafe Hanoi | 27 Galway Street

A modern Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Britomart, inspired by the flavours and faded elegance of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. 

Our food pick: Grilled Wagyu beef bavette with fish sauce caramel, watercress and fried shallots, $39.


Baduzzi | 10-26 Jellicoe Street

This Italian restaurant is a sophisticated casual dining must visit in Wynyard Quarter. Rated Metro Peugeot's Restaurant of the Year 2019's Best Service winner and runner-up of Best Smart Restaurant.  

Our food pick: Mamma D’s “East Coast” - beef meatballs with smoked melanzane, $19.50.


Hello Beasty | 95-97 Customs Street West

Serving up contemporary cuisine inspired by regions of Japan, Korea and China, Hello Beasty is a cult eatery on Auckland's waterfront. 

Our food pick: Wild caught Australian banana prawns garlic, 4pc, $30.


Amano | 66 - 68, Tyler Street

Amano is one of Britomart’s most prominent restaurants with a seasonal menu that is sure to tempt your palate.

Our food pick: Pull lamb shoulder.


Culprit. | Level 1/12 Wyndham Street

An American style menu with a traditional Yum Cha twist, it is well worth checking out this Wyndham Street eatery. 

Our food pick: Shiitake milk buns, filled with fermented shiitake butter, and dusted with marmite powder. (Part of the Jet Set menu).


Kai Eatery | 7 Queen Street, Harbour Eats, Commercial Bay

Kai Eatery is Auckland's original Taiwanese XL fried chicken destination.

Our food pick: Hei Hei buns with crunchy chicken, daikon, cucumber, fresh slaw, chipotle on fluffy steamed bun, $9.90
