Homeland in Wynyard Quarter is the newest venture from renowned New Zealand chef Peter Gordon and his partner Alastair Carruthers. This novel concept is best described as a Food Embassy - it’s a dining room, film studio, cooking school, food innovation hub and community space; a social enterprise with the goal of connecting food and people - and boosting trade.
The cooking school will open its doors to the public in the new year, focussing on approachable everyday food with chef masterclasses on the side. On weekends, classes will encourage families to come and cook together. This approachable ethos will carry over to the dining room too. The menu will be seasonal and based on the producers Homeland are working with for the month, think Cloudy Bay clams, veggies from Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae, MooDew raw milk Paneer and Origin South Lamb (these producers will rotate every 4-6 weeks).
There will be ‘greatest hit’ dishes like Peter’s Turkish Eggs that won the hearts of Londoners at The Providores for so many years too. The waterside site is perfect for business, locals, producer events, families, dogs and sunset drinks.
