Public Transport in Auckland

Getting in and around the City Centre

Getting in, around and out of the city has never been so easy. Auckland Transport's AT Metro integrated public transport network makes transit around the city quicker and easier. The AT HOP reusable prepay smart card makes using public transport simple and cost effective, with at least 25% discount off single trip cash bus, train and ferry fares (excludes SkyBus services and Waiheke ferry services).

Buses

The Link bus service connects the city centre and inner suburbs, local networks get people to and from North, South, East and West Auckland, and services run frequently between the city centre and the airport as well as New Zealand's regional centres.

Ferries

Ferries to and from the Downtown Ferry Terminal open up a vast number of destinations on the edge of the Waitematā Harbour, whether you are after a scenic and peaceful commute or a day exploring the beautiful Hauraki Gulf.

Trains and electric trains

Trains are a great way to get around central, eastern southern and western Auckland. Electric trains provide a comfortable and quiet ride and many services serving different areas of the city.
