Ngāti Whātu Ōrākei will lead a dawn ceremony celebrating the Māori New Year.
Timings:
- Free coffee will be available from 6:30am
- The ceremony will begin at 7am
- Breakfast from 7:45am
Executive chef Maia Atvars (Ngāi Te Rangi) of Saint Alice has prepared a special breakfast menu in reference to the Matariki star cluster. Think kumara sourdough bread, Mānuka smoked salmon pate, scrambled eggs with kawakawa, horopito and wild NZ pork sausage, kawhai and riwai hash with hangi-steamed pudding with burnt caramel to finish. Enjoyed with Wai Mānuka honey sparking water and Matariki curated mocktails.

A Kaputī station will be available serving up house-made chai tea along with gumboot, kawakawa vitality, kūmarahou calm, ngahere sencha.

The dawn ceremony is free to attend.
