We get inspiration can be hard when it comes to finding something to do on a winter's day. Our solution? Shopping!

If you haven't been to the High Street District recently, it's definitely worth a visit. The streets are lined with an eclectic mix of stores, including independent labels, mainstream brands, on-trend footwear, gifts and more! While you stroll along the intimately scaled High Street, don't forget to take a moment to appreciate the heritage architecture, laneways and squares, public art, and native trees.

The Best for Fashion Staples

If you're looking to build your foundational wardrobe, you've got some great options in the High Street District. For simple, quality basics for men, head to Mr. Simple; the name says it all! AIMAI and Moochi also stock some great essential pieces, and AS Colour is a much-loved classic!

The Best Cool and Quirky Stores

There are some amazing stores filled with vibrant and playful pieces in this district. Strangely Normal stock ‘50s and ’60s inspired menswear, as well as plenty of interesting 1950s, inspired shirts. We also love Gorman, filled with fun prints and unique, bright colours.

The Best Streetwear

There is no shortage of stylish streetwear brands in the High St District. Prior stocks a range of new and vintage items for both men and women. You’ll also find an impressive range of premium streetwear brands at Prosper, Loaded and Parlour.

The Best Sustainable Brands

The High Street District is the perfect place for sustainable shopping, as it’s home to great brands that are championing sustainability. NZ made, Alchemy Equipment is a great option, they offer effortlessly stylish products, made from recycled and biodegradable materials.

If you’re looking to reduce the footprint of your wardrobe through second-hand shopping, Tatty’s, and Emporio U are great places to do so.

Take a break from your shopping with a warm beverage

The Best Footwear

With plenty of footwear retailers to pick from, shoe lovers will love this district. Mi Piaci is the ultimate destination for luxurious shoes to elevate anyone’s wardrobe. If you’re after a new pair of sneakers, be sure to check out Loaded, Trainers Skateboarding and Edit. Just over the road at the end of High Street, you'll find Jean Batten Place, home to favourites UGG and Lacoste.

The Best for Accessories

Accessories are a great way to express your style and top off your look! There are plenty of beautiful jewellery options to select from. We’re loving Layla Kaisi, Jewlellers Workshop, Carats and Nolan and Vada. For a new pair of glasses or sunglasses, be sure to check out Bailey Nelson.

The Best Book Stores

Hight Street is the ideal destination for book worms. One of our favourites is the cozy, leading independent book shop, Unity Books. Jason Books and Rare Books are also great stores to check out.

Best for Gifting

Shut the Front Door is sure to spark some gift-giving inspiration. Pick up something exclusive and unique from Pauanesia or a beautiful self-care product from Aesop.
