An 8 metre long painting, Whatever will grow is the latest in a series of site-specific paintings commissioned by the building’s body corporate to activate the lobby and inspire visitors. The lobby of this historic building has become an art destination for the city.
What ever will grow borrows the lattice motif from outside the front of the South British Insurance building to map the wall. The painting was built organically; combining studies of plants in the artists garden with a continuous line drawing where creatures emerge from the overgrowing tendrils of an imaginary plant.
The work is created in collaboration with ARTTFORM, an art agency lead by Paul Baragwanath, which also commissioned the great facades of the NZ Convention Centre and major works in the PwC Tower, ANZ Centre and HSBC Tower.
