Bring your family to the Maritime Museum these holidays to hear the story of the Manukau Harbour in this live storybook show with the Wise Bird of the Waitakere. Plus get creative and make a take-home craft to remind you of our woven histories with te moana (the ocean).

Auckland’s rugged and beautiful Manukau Harbour has a rich history. The uniquely handcrafted mural inside this book tells stories about taniwha, timber, a sinking ship, plus settler, a sharp-tooth shark and a volcano too!

Created by Handmade Histories design artist, researcher and writer Mary Kelleher. This large, interactive storybook mural is created from fabric and historical memorabilia to tell the many stories that are woven in the Manukau harbour’s history.

Recommended for ages 4 - 10 years.
