Auckland Council Group teams with SkyCity and Vector Lights once again to bring New Year’s Eve celebrations to the city centre, as Tāmaki Makaurau leads the country in welcoming 2026.
From 9PM, the Sky Tower will feature a series of special light moments leading into the iconic midnight fireworks. SkyCity invites New Zealanders to submit their favourite photo memories for a chance to be included in the show.
Also from 9PM, the Auckland Harbour Bridge will light up with a brand‑new Vector Lights display, giving everyone plenty of time to secure a great viewing spot before the dynamic light‑and‑sound show begins in the final minutes before midnight.
Roaming performers will bring extra energy to Queen Street and the downtown waterfront throughout the evening, adding to the festive vibe.
With large crowds expected, people are encouraged to allow extra travel time and plan ahead by using public transport, shared rides, or taxis.
Access to the central city and Wynyard Quarter will be restricted, with many streets becoming pedestrian‑only from 10PM on 31 December until 1AM on 1 January.
After the much‑anticipated countdown, the Sky Tower will erupt in a spectacular fireworks display, while the Auckland Harbour Bridge dazzles with colour and light — both perfectly synchronised to MoreFM 91.8FM’s playlist of 2025’s top songs.
