A little bit of mystery, a lot of great food. Taste of Tuawhiti is a progressive dinner across three of Auckland’s best restaurants: kingi, Café Hanoi, and Ghost Street, all tucked into Tuawhiti Lane in the Britomart neighbourhood.
Where you start is a surprise. Arrive at The Hotel Britomart Lobby Lounge, enjoy a glass of bubbles, and find out where your first course will be served. From there, you’ll move between restaurants, swapping places with other guests as you experience a curated three-course meal, with each course and wine match served in a different venue.
Expect fresh sustainably sourced seafood at kingi, with dishes like kingfish crudo with grapefruit, caper and bay leaf or pan-seared snapper with tomato crayfish bisque, fregola and fennel. At Café Hanoi, modern Vietnamese flavours take centre stage with dishes like ginger galangal chicken with pickled vegetables and green papaya salad with shrimp. And at Ghost Street, bold Beijing-inspired cooking shines in plates like honey glazed cha shao pork and steamed vegetables with aromatic fried rice.
It’s a journey through some of the city’s top kitchens with wine pairings, good company, and a little spontaneity thrown in.
