In 17th-century France, Father Urbain Grandier seeks to protect the city of Loudun from the corrupt establishment of Cardinal Richelieu. Hysteria occurs within the city when he is accused of witchcraft by a sexually repressed nun. Still inexplicably suppressed from a proper, uncut release by Warner Bros. Pictures 35 years after its original release, we are making sure this rare British masterpiece about the danger of the marriage between church and state continues to find new eyes.
