Join Medena Ensemble, Aotearoa’s premier Bulgarian folklore vocal group led by the extraordinary Tui Mamaki, for a one-off, early-evening performance celebrating the hauntingly beautiful songs of Bulgaria.

The Daughters of Orpheus weaves together lush vocal harmonies, ancient village melodies + stirring improvisations in a honeyed tapestry of sound. With roots in the rich choral traditions of Eastern Europe, this programme is specially crafted for Medena’s upcoming performance at Bulgaria’s iconic Koprivshtitsa Festival, in collaboration with New York’s Yasna Voices choir.

Expect close harmonies, intricate rhythms + a deep dive into the feminine power of folk song. A celebration of sisterhood, tradition + connection, this event is a heartwarming winter gift to the community + a chance to support Medena’s international kaupapa.

Park for $2.50 per hour, to a maximum of $10.50 on evenings and weekends at the Victoria St car park. Find out more.
