Changing Lanes is a well-established part of Auckland’s creative landscape and is once again a feature of Art Week.
It aims to help create connections in our community, provide opportunities for artists, enhance public spaces and uplift spirits. These projects reference the spaces’ unique heritage, their use as pedestrian walking routes and intimate city business locations.
Morning Star is a collection of photographic images and an ephemeral sculpture accessible via handheld devices and extended reality technology. The artwork features three colossal celestial spheres inspired by handmade earth sculptures, the planets Venus and Uranus, the giant star Betelgeuse, and the crystalline structures of ancient Aotearoa chalcedony stones.
Floating above Auckland city center with the Waitemata Harbour as a backdrop, this new virtual sculpture in the artist’s series is enriched with a NASA-sourced soundscape. Morning Star serves as a nexus bridging earth, sky, sea, and cosmos. Named after Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty, and happiness, Morning Star embodies beauty, romance, creativity, and aesthetics, offering viewers an experience of inspiration and wonder.
