In his latest book Angels, English journalist and author Peter Stanford traces the origins of angels in religious thought, history, art history, psychology, and pop culture. He also ponders why, for some, these figures are more compelling and comforting than God, as part of his lifelong investigations into questions of faith and belief. The former editor of the Catholic Herald has previously written a biography of Pope Joan (The She Pope) and also one of the Devil (“a vivid, impish and tantalising work on the dark side”, Melvyn Bragg); Heaven: A Traveller’s Guide; and How to Read a Graveyard. To reflect on what may or may not be on the other side, join him in conversation with Hannah August.

$2 per hour to a max of $12 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
