Sweet treats in the city centre

Whether you’re with the kids on a weekend outing, a decadent date night or catching up with colleagues over lunch or after work, it’s always a great time for dessert. Some of our favourites in the city centre include:

Miann | Gateau Tasting platter, $23

A much-loved family owned and operated business, Miann makes lush seasonal desserts and small batch chocolates. Their ever-changing menu is a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds, so this mixed platter of six gateau is a great way to avoid decision paralysis. Think lemon meringue tart, pecan brownie and apple crumble tart to name but a few treats that may be on offer. 

Bluebells Cakery | High Tea, $35 - $55 

If you’re after a picnic in the park, morning tea for the office or just because, Bluebells Cakery has you covered. Their high tea is available to have in or take away and includes six different menus catering to different dietary requirements – including gluten free, vegan, child-friendly and pregnancy menus.  Each one comes with a mixture of delicate savoury and sweets, like cucumber sandwiches, sausage rolls, Almond Frangipane Tart and of course, scones topped with jam and cream. 

Giapo | Brookie Pie, $10 with no ice cream, $17 for a Brookie pie with a scoop of ice cream.

Giapo is an icon within the city centre’s dessert scene, and the Brookie Pie is great example of their decadent vision. On their own, chocolate brownies and chocolate chip cookies are delicious. Merge them together and you’ve got the rich, fudgy goodness of the Brookie. A firm favourite for those in the know, make sure to get them before they sell out. 

Devonport Chocolates | Truffle slices, $22.90 each

For a rich decadent dessert look no further than this truffle slice! Rum and raisin, brandy and ginger, espresso and chocolate are just some of the truffle flavours on offer courtesy of Devonport Chocolates, a family-run business that first opened in, you guessed it, Devonport. They’ve since expanded and you can now check out their handmade delights in Queens Arcade. 

Honest Chocolat | Hot chocolate with an edible cup
