Archived: Whispers from the Windows of Palestine

The windows of Palestine whisper, they bear witness to the lives of the people that come and go. They have heard the prayers, they have seen the horror and the strength and they whisper, even as the world around them turns to dust.

Sameh Shamout's work has an audience holding their breath as he weaves poetry, music and architecture. As he tells us the stories of his people he builds their cities out of wooden blocks. Even as his hands shake with emotion the buildings never wobble. Until of course, they do.
