Tūhono (to join, connect, bond) is a vibrant new light addition to the City Centre’s Matariki celebrations.

Tūhono honours the rich history of Te Tōangaroa as a key Māori trading port and a place of strong mauri (life force). Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei invites all to the opening on Saturday 21 June, 6pm, at Te Kōmititanga, with an immersive journey to Mahuhu Ki Te Rangi Park.

The lights will shine nightly until 12 July.

Tūhono is a partnership between Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, Britomart Group, and Auckland Council. Ngā mihi to Artists Arama Tamariki-Enua (Ngāti Whātua) and Angus Muir, curated by Hinengarangi (Barbs) Makoare (Ngāti Whātua, Ngāpuhi | Niue)
