Sobremesa is a term that has no direct translation to English. The concept is deeply rooted in Latin American culture, creating a space for connection. It is the time you spend in deep, meaningful conversation, relaxing together, sometimes for hours, well after dessert has been served. You talk, drink, debate, laugh, and fully enjoy each other's company.

This art activation by Latin Women Artists members of Sur-Collective explores the creation of art pieces made out of cardboard and inspired by fruits, vegetables and traditional food from Latin American culture, creating a big-scale feast accompanied by a paper table cloth ready for participants to intervene with colors.

An art activation and people interaction in 3 stages | Creation, Mounting and Interaction

The time seated at the table will be used to talk about the food of different cultures, the different crafts over the table and the cultural backgrounds of the people invited to the feast. At the same time, cardboard fruits will be put together (tutorial mode) to allow participants to see and be part of the creation process.

$2 per hour to a max of $12 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
