Special performances by the Auckland members of the New Zealand Youth Choir as they respond to artworks in A Century of Modern Art on the exhibition’s opening weekend.

The choir members will perform musical works inspired by artworks in the exhibition. Hear their special choral interpretations of Monet’s Water Lilies and Van Gogh’s Wheat Fields with Reaper, Auvers. This free concert will last approximately 50 minutes.

As a bonus, some members of the choir will perform a few songs in the exhibition. These pop-up performances will be available to visitors who have purchased exhibition tickets. These will be from 2pm to approximately 2.20pm.

The New Zealand Youth Choir (NZYC) has achieved considerable success since its formation in 1979. Performances in New Zealand and 13 international tours including visits to the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, United States of America, Australia, Singapore, Russia, the Republic of Korea, China and the Pacific Islands have firmly established its reputation for consistency, energy and excellence. The choir comprises around 50 singers aged 18 to 25 and operates on a three-year audition cycle.

$2.50 per hour to a max of $12.50 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
