2 JULY 2021 - 10 JULY 2021

Inspired by the research of Dr. Rangi Matamua, a leading figure in Māori astronomy, and renowned lighting artist James Turrell, Viaduct Harbour's creative director for its Matariki 2021 programme, Tuhirangi Blair, has collaborated with Angus Muir to create a large-scale art installation in Market Square from 2-10 July.

Each night, this free public installation will represent specific stars from the Matariki cluster, expressed through light, colour and mesmerising moving depictions to be displayed on the ceiling of the installation, encouraging observers to mirror the motion of looking up at Matariki in the night sky.
