FromThePit, the highly anticipated annual showcase of Aotearoa music photography, is set to return in 2025 for its seventh consecutive year. The exhibition, which highlights the vibrant essence of Aotearoa’s music scene, will feature captivating images captured by talented photographers from across the motu.
FromThePit is a curated collection of live music photography, focusing exclusively on Aotearoa musicians performing in local venues. This year, 59 photographers have contributed their recent mahi, providing a rich view of the nation’s diverse music landscape.
In a time where the Aotearoa music industry continues to face challenges, FromThePit stands as a living record and support of our local scene - honouring those who keep the music playing and the moments alive.
This year, the Fan Studio video will be screened outside Spark Arena throughout May for NZ Music Month, playing 7-8pm daily. May not be playing during show days.
Also, this New Zealand music month, Auckland Central City Library will be showcasing the work of Aotearoa’s talented live music photographers in the FromThePit exhibition until 17 May.
Part artists, part historians, but all music fans, they all strive to take the perfect photo which reflects how it felt to be at the concert and communicates the excitement of a live music event.
Established by New Zealand music photographers Dave Simpson and Reuban Raj in 2019, the exhibition has celebrated live music photographers through many audiovisual exhibitions.
