Last year’s choir and organ concert proved so popular, the same combination will open this year's free organ concert series.
The Auckland Youth Choir’s 130 singers directed by David Squire will fill the stage and fill the Great Hall with glorious sound. Their major contribution will be Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and Karl Jenkins’ Benedictus from The Armed Man along with a selection of shorter works.
Dunedin City organist, David Burchell will accompany the choir on the Town Hall’s grand organ and provide solo items which will include a Praeludium by Nicholaus Bruhns, variations on a Northumbrian Folk song by Arthur Milner, the dashing Toccata by Georgi Muschel, the familiar Hornpipe from Handel’s Water Music and the grand finale from Widor’s 6th Symphony.
This concert will start at the later time of 3pm. Don’t miss the chance to hear the city’s leading young singers with the country’s premier concert organ.
