AUSCO, in essence, is a group of students, passionate about making great music. They aim to fill a gap at the University of Auckland for students who performed music at a competitive level previously, but do not pursue music as their primary focus at university. They aim to create an avenue for students to express their musicality and virtuosity, while continuing their academic pursuits. They're realistic about theirstandard of playing, which is not quite professional, but the orchestra is full of talented musicians who love putting on fantastic concerts.

Programme:

  • La Muerte del Ángel - Piazzolla
  • Cello Concerto No. 2 - Schumann, Featuring Vincent Chen
  • Impromptu - Sibelius
  • Symphony No. 5 - Beethoven

About MusicHelps:

MusicHelps was originally established in 2012 under the name “The New Zealand Music Foundation”. Through their Grants Programme they have invested in more than 70 projects with 42 partners from Whangarei to Invercargill, all using the power of music to change the lives of over 60,000 New Zealanders in need. They've also provided emergency assistance to hundreds of kiwi music people experiencing hardship and illness through our Backline suite of services, including a world first professional online, on-the-phone and face-to-face counselling service tailored to people who make live and recorded music possible.
