SNAKE PIT//

Founded in August 2011, Snake Pit came into being when the operation of an iconic three level building in High St, Auckland was handed over to recent Art School Graduates due to an act of faith by a local landlord.

The graduates offered this space to the art public for production and exhibitions. The gallery ran a total of of 25 exhibitions in the main gallery space with a new show ever two or so weeks. Consistent uncertainty was a defining factor, running with the understanding that at any moment they would have to pack up and move out. Snake Pit has been vacated and the building is being demolished.
