Get ready for the Christmas holidays and meet the Maritime Museum and Sew Love Tea Do for Christmas sewing and craft workshops on the Waterfront.
Sew Love Tea Do are a mobile sewing school and have been up-cycling textiles and up-skilling communities since 2013. For them it's all about people and communities coming together, doing something practical for themselves, each other and the environment. In their workshops, they focus on re-using textiles and treasures, enjoying their story, and creating a more meaningful life.
Learn how to make a summer beach bag for yourself or a Christmas gift. Everything will be supplied, but see if you can find an old beach towel to bring along and transform.
On top of this, the museum wants to take a hit at plastic bags, the often single-use item we think little about that infiltrates our water systems and end up in the ocean, damaging the environment and ocean wildlife. They want to show people how to transform them into usable and beautiful accessories, and ultimately get people thinking twice about using and disposing of plastic bags.
There will be plenty of space for families to chill out and enjoy the waterfront at the same time.
