Like scrimshaw and fancy knotwork, embroidered ship portraits - aka woolies - were the handiwork of men whose ships were propelled by the wind. Try your hand at wool embroidery and make your own tiny "woolie" using a collection of embroidery stiches. No stitching experience needed.
