‘Joy Masks’ are about celebrating happiness and the ways it connects us. With these works the artist invites the viewers to connect with the universal emotion of happiness, the intention is that these masks spark a playful and cheeky whimsical nature that reflects happiness in its many varied forms of expression, disrupting monotonous routine and breaking the mode of day-to-day commutes with unexpected joy.
Masks can have a transformative effect on those who wear them and those who view them. They can help individuals express emotions or personas that they might not otherwise be able to convey. In some cultures, wearing a mask allows a person to step outside their everyday identity and embody something greater, whether it's a spirit, an ancestor, or a symbolic representation.
