Auckland City’s food offerings are vast but it can be a challenge to find places that will accommodate different dietary requirements while still satisfying that ever-important taste test. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up a selection of the city’s best establishments that both serve great food while catering to a range of different diets.

East-Winter-Menu-2021

East | 63-67 Nelson Street

Located on the ground floor of the Sudima Hotel on Nelson Street, East is serving up a menu of modern-Asian eats where 100% of the dishes on offer are vegetarian (seventy-five percent are vegan and 70 percent are gluten free!). They've just launched their winter menu featuring new additions that are sure to beat those cold weather blues. We suggest trying one of their new curries - a Thai green curry with brussels sprouts, Thai eggplant and Thai basil, or the Rendang curry with jackfruit, oyster mushroom and cauliflower. You'll need to throw in an order of the kimchi and fried egg steamed dumplings with gochujang vinegar, as well as the decadent salted caramel chocolate tart with peanut, crushed almond and coconut sorbet for dessert (it's GF!). The wine list at East is 100% organic and vegan too, featuring New Zealand and Italian vintages, and their creative cocktail list will have you wanting to try every concoction - the Guava Gochugaru is top of our list at the moment (gold rum, guava and cucumber with a gochugaru salt rim).

Mr Taco | 64A Federal Street

For authentic Mexican tacos, look no further than Mr Taco on Federal Street. This amazing little hole in the wall taqueria makes incredibly delicious traditional tacos with corn tortillas (which are naturally GF) and a range of fillings. For those that are gluten free, you're free to order any of the tacos (make sure to double check before you order if you're coeliac) and if you're veggie there's two tasty options - jackfruit or napoles (cactus), and we highly recommend both of these flavours!

Misters

With generous portions and a variety of choices, the food here will satisfy all dietary requirements. Try a stir fry or one of the many curries paired with either black rice or steamed buns, and take it away and sit at Beresford Square to enjoy your vegan meal.

Hello Mister

Not only this but Hello Mister also offers gluten-free choices.

Sunflower Thai

Sunflower Thai Vegan Restaurant | 6/50 High Street

As one of High Street’s hidden gems, Sunflower Thai Vegan Restaurant should be your go-to vegan spot. With a menu full of delicious, healthy and organic Thai cuisine at an affordable price, Sunflower ticks all the boxes. Their extensive meal options include rice and noodle dishes, soups and other offerings, all served with your choice of tofu, mock meats or just vegetables.

Smart Sushi Britomart

Whether you are looking for delicious vegetarian or gluten-free, there is bound to be something that works for you. Try their sashimi with a side of wakame salad for an ultra healthy option, or the udon vegge tempura which they make in-house.
