Hilton Auckland, home to one of Auckland’s most sought-after harbourside destinations is launching two interactive masterclasses for mixology and seafood fans alike.
Created by Chef Wallace Mua, FISH Restaurant has perfected an interactive Sashimi Masterclass where guests will learn how to prepare their own sustainably sourced seafood dish.
Down in Bellini Bar, whether you’re a beginner or an expert drink enthusiast you can learn how to master the tricky nature of shaking, straining and garnishing in a Mixology Masterclass.
Just in time for summer, these masterclasses are the perfect excuse to plan a get-together with your closest friends or colleagues while you delve into the captivating history of the art of cocktails or take the helm in the kitchen to create an array of fresh sashimi sourced locally.
FISH Restaurant Sashimi Masterclass
With the freshest sustainable seafood at the heart of its offering, FISH is excited to invite guests to put a spin on their favourite sashimi dishes under the guidance of one of FISH’s talented chefs.
Chef Mua integrates his strong Pacific roots into the masterclass by starting with a demonstration of one of his favourite dishes, a twist on a traditional fish oka – a traditional Samoan style fish dish. Step by step, guests will learn the key elements and styles of sashimi including origins of seafood favourites, the art of filleting and flavour profiling by adding fresh ingredients all the way through to plating your dish.
The 45-minute masterclass includes your own sashimi entrée, followed by a main and dessert from FISH’s delicious set menu. Under the guidance of Chef Mua guests will be able to create their own recipes and styles to recreate at home. Smaller bookings may be grouped together to reach the pax if 10 per class. It’s a great chance to have a bit of friendly competition among friends to dish up the most presentable sashimi dish.
Whether you’re looking for a fun date night or a meet up with friends the class is available for groups of 2 – 10 on Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:30pm at $119 a person.
Bellini Bar Mixology Masterclass
The new Mixology Masterclass is an elevated version to the existing cocktail class, encouraging guests to expand their knowledge of mixology, pushing you beyond your ‘go to’ cocktail order. Taking tips from the experts, you will be able to build your personalised cocktail right behind the bar by customising your drink down to the small details - from the base spirit through to glassware and presentation.
On arrival, guests will be presented with a selection of flavoured Bellinis – the bar’s namesake drink, before selecting three cocktail demonstrations and their own to create. While the demonstrations take place, Bellini Bar will provide a tasting platter of your choice to enjoy.
The masterclass is broken into three key flavour categories demonstrated by your mixologist; Bellini then gives you the freedom to choose one of your favourite cocktails from each. Martinis and mojitos are two examples of the dry, fruity and fresh category; daiquiris and margaritas are sour & tangy, while Toblerone and Pina Colada fall into the sweet, creamy and rich category. With over 15 thought starters, even those with the pickiest palette will be satisfied with any flavour profile.
