Stark's Cafe and Bar

In the heart of Auckland's arts quarter

Stark's is your go-to spot for pre-show catch-ups! Order an inventive cocktail or browse the range of beer and wine. If you're feeling peckish, they offer a great range of quick bites and snacks like wraps, quiches, savoury brioches, croissants and muffins.

Stark’s Café and Bar is named after Freda Beatrice Stark. During World War II, she worked for the Colonial Ammunition Factory by day and danced at the cabaret and nightclub at The Civic’s Wintergarden by night. There are many scandalous stories about Freda - the most often told is about one of her dancing costumes comprised of a g-string, a feathered headdress and gold body paint. No wonder she was nicknamed the Fever of the Fleet by the American troops.

Stark's opening days and times are subject to shows at The Civic and is only open 90 minutes before shows and events on in The Civic.

$2 per hour to a max of $12 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
