Located in Britomart, Auckland's oldest commercial district, Perch (previously known as Xuxu Dumpling Bar) is a beguiling corner bar serving boutique drinks and handcrafted dumplings. Come in, perch up, relax, and watch the city go by.
The menu is focused on traditional Chinese dumplings and spring rolls but uses ingredients from throughout East Asia including kimchi, Sichuan pepper and XO sauce. This provides a wonderful range of flavour profiles including numbing, sour, spicy, salty, and umami. The food will perfectly match with crisp lager, dry white wine and/or punchy cocktails!
The drinks menu includes craft tap beers from award-winning local brewer Brothers Beer, cocktails that utilize East Asian ingredients including black tea, cherry, coriander and yuzu, and boutique wines from NZ and further afield. It's not a large list but it's perfectly formed to provide the standards and more unusual flavours and varieties.
