An inspiring and visually rich exhibition is coming to Auckland, showcasing over sixty-five works by Mark Adams that capture Aotearoa’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant people and rich, layered histories - the first comprehensive survey of his career.
For more than 30 years, his lens has captured the beauty of whakairo Māori (Māori carving) both locally and abroad, as well as the work of celebrated tufuga tatatau (master tattooists) within Samoan communities in Tāmaki Makaurau. With Aotearoa as his tūrangawaewae (standing place), his work is a vibrant exploration of the migration of artistic and cultural practices across the globe. His practice documents sites of significance across the country , including the landing places of Captain James Cook and his crew and key locations where Te Tiriti o Waitangi was signed.
