In a heartwarming first, New Zealand Fashion Week hosted its debut runway show for dogs. But this wasn’t just a cute gimmick. The event spotlighted a serious mission: rehoming over 2,500 retired racing Greyhounds following the recent legislation that will ban the sport from August 2026.
With thousands of dogs facing an uncertain future, the fashion industry stepped up in style. Twelve of New Zealand’s most iconic designers — including Karen Walker, Sylvester, Kowtow, Trelise Cooper, Nom*D, Penny Sage, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Caitlin Snell, Bendon, Sonnie and Swanndri — dressed the hounds in custom looks that graced the runway earlier today.
Though the show has ended, the real runway begins now — into loving homes. These graceful, gentle dogs are still looking for adopters. If you're ready to welcome a retired racer into your life, now’s the perfect time to make it happen.
