Auckland's Heritage Festival is back!


Discover the land, people and history of the Pacific from September 28th to October 13th 2024. This year's theme is Moana Ocenia, linking to Pacific nations and Tāmaki Makaurau. Check out some of the events offered below in the city centre, this year!

Hidden Gems in the inner city | 30 Sept, 3 Oct, 7 Oct & 10 Oct
Edward Bennett gives a guided two-hour walking tour in the lower Queen Street area. Tour will look at beautiful marble lobbies, 1920s lifts and mural paintings of Baroque cupids. As well as various stories on Gothic gargoyles, mermaids and Art Deco robots!
Meet at the former Guardian Trust building from 11am- 1pm.
Space is limited to 30 people.

Engineering in New Zealand Heritage Walks | 29 Sept, 5 Oct, 6 Oct, 12 Oct
Take a walk through the city's engineering past with stories of buildings, notable structures, and people behind the enterprises.
There are two types of walks allocated.
Walk A: | 28 Sept, 6 Oct, 12 Oct from 10am- 12:30pm
Take a look at the Tepid Baths, Sky Tower, Wynard Wharf, Victoria Park Tunnel, Harbour Bridge and more!
Walk B: | 29 Sept, 5 Sept, 13 Oct from 10am- 12:30pm
Take a look at the Ferry Building, Queens Wharf, Britomart Transport Centre Civic Theatre, Auckland Town Hall & more!
Meet under the Americas Cup boat at the corner of Quay and Hobson Street
Space is limited to 12 people per walk

Tuia Mātauranga The Ocean that Binds us Together | 28 Sept, 29 Sept, 5 Oct, 6 Oct
Uncover the voyaging traditions and cultures of Moana Oceania and Pacific Ocean. Storytellers. Sonny Natanielu and Tony Marsters, journey through the extraordinary achievements of the Pacific voyagers, innovation and navigation across the Pacific Ocean. Explore the Tuia exhibit, and take a look into the migration history, while reflecting on Aotearoa today NZ's aspiration for the future.
Meet at the Maritime Museum.

Ara Lodge 348 I.C Heritage Walk
Explore a walking tour through the heart of Auckland City's heritage precinct. Learning about the past members of the Masons, including important historical figures in modern Aotearoa. The walk ends with a behind the scenes tour of New Zealand's oldest Masonic lodge.
Explore one of Auckland's most interesting heritage buildings, that is usually off limits to the public.
Meet at Ara Lodge NO 348 I.C, on the corner of Princes Street and Shortland Street
