Celebrate one of the world’s greatest sopranos in a grand theatre tradition.
A Gala Concert in the Presence of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will feature the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by music director Giordano Bellincampi, together with some of New Zealand’s finest operatic voices including Anna Leese, Pene Pati, James Ioelu, and the Freemasons New Zealand Opera Chorus.
Featuring performances of some of the best-loved opera choruses and arias including Puccini’s ‘O mio babbino caro’, Verdi’s ‘Anvil Chorus’, Bizet’s ‘The Pearl Fishers’ ‘Duet’, and a selection of renowned works by Wagner, Rossini, and Mascagni, the gala will celebrate Dame Kiri’s formidable talent and contribution to the arts, and the renaming of the ASB Theatre to the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre in her honour.
