Fashioning Assembly Aotearoa will be hosted at the Central City Library, Auckland CBD, and will be streamed for attendants around the country and the world. As well as talks, there will be practical workshops running throughout the event, so bring along some items to mend/upcycle with you! More details about the individual workshops still to come
In Aotearoa today there are a lot of people who are engaged with the kaupapa (principles) and mahi (work) of decolonising the fashion landscape and expanding our understanding of the many different ways that we fashion our identity through how we dress and adorn ourselves. We have compiled an exciting programme of talks and workshops which are free to attend, in person or via zoom to engage in kōrero and to learn more about these concepts, the practitioners employing them, and to share our unique fashion perspective with the rest of the world.
The Global Fashioning Assembly (GFA) will take place 21-23 October 2022 in a hybrid online/offline format worldwide. Starting in Aotearoa and finishing 3 days later in Peru, it is a gathering of global fashion makers that reaches across disciplines and geographical boundaries. It recognises how diverse fashion is and aims to get us to rethink fashion beyond the eurocentric colonial framework. To register to attend the global event online, head to the Eventbrite link to reserve your spot!
In-person event programme details are still to come but to learn more about Aotearoa's leg of this event head to @nzfm or here.
Fashioning Assembly Aotearoa is supported by the city centre targeted rate.
