Flamenco dance as you have never before seen in New Zealand. Passionate and powerful - EMERALD FLAMENCO THEATRE is an intrinsic fight for survival.

EMERALD FLAMENCO THEATRE interweaves traditional and contemporary Flamenco, Folk and Spanish dance styles.

EMERALD FLAMENCO THEATRE is a personal narrative. The work draws attention to how we change our skins through life, evolving into the people we are today because of hardships and pain suffered. From childhood, we begin to adapt and build coping mechanisms in response to experiences of life, augmenting current perspectives and defining the future. The work challenges the audience in the notion of society’s ideals of a perfect picture, and the dance work addresses all that life brings. The work is constructed on the premise that even though we may share similar experiences, every hurt is personal. Both Hernandez and Tamayo will present their individual narratives and the intrinsic fight to survive  through the art of story telling; the premise of traditional Flamenco.

This production is a re-work from the original production. The soundtrack was edited and produced by Aaron Lee and Lighting design by Jason James. The EMERALD FLAMENCO THEATRE soundtrack is all pre-recorded.
