Day of the Dead is just around the corner, and if you're looking for some inspirations on where to go to celebrate this Mexican tradition then you've come to the right place. We've put together a list of the best places to go during Day of the Dead.
La Fuente | Snickel Lane
La Fuente, the first bar in the country to devote itself to wine and mezcal, will be celebrating ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ this Friday 1 and Saturday 2 November in Snickel Lane with a delicious modern-Mexican food menu matched to a selection of special beverages. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle and Day of the Dead is a time not for sadness, but rather a festival of celebration for family and friends that honours loved ones and ancestors on the date when their souls are believed to have returned to earth.
Traditionally, celebrating the dead in Mexico goes hand in hand with feasting on special food, so get into the spirit of Dia De Los Muertos at La Fuente this weekend with a special three-course celebratory pairing:
- Scallop aguachile, green chilli, lime juice on a lettuce cup, paired with Garage Project La Calavera Catrina, a watermelon and habanero blond lager
- Seared beef and goat's cheese tostada & pomegranate, paired with 2018 Garage Project Vino Magico, Riesling/Chardonnay, Nelson, New Zealand
- Chocolate & Mezcal ice cream with caramel sauce & poached pear, paired with Del Tio Ro, Espadin Mezcal
Bookings essential for Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November – from 5pm. $60 pp minimum 2 people required. Reservations contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
