Santa has made his way to his new home at the National Transport and Toy Museum in Wanaka after his last Christmas in the city centre last year.

The 19-metre Santa Claus, who has graced the corner of Queen and Victoria Streets each Christmas in recent years, completed the 1,480km journey south over the last week.

We are over the moon to have found this ideal spot for his retirement and that he can still be enjoyed by New Zealanders for hopefully many generations to come.

Farewell and thanks for the happy memories Santa!

Take a look at the start of his journey on Seven Sharp.
