Australian, London-based pianist Piers Lane returns to Aotearoa to perform the complete cycle of Frédéric Chopin’s beloved nocturnes.
The 21 nocturnes are among Chopin’s most intimate compositions, suggestive of a myriad of night-time atmospheres and emotions. Of twilight, dusk and into the dark night. Of contemplation, serenity, melancholy, drama and joy. They are each elegantly drawn and sensuously beautiful.
The first nocturne was composed when Chopin was 17, and with the final nocturne being composed just three years before his death at age 39.
