Born to Create is a series of inspirational talks with the purpose to give a voice to women who aspire to create a societal change and to invite women speakers who are already changing societal perceptions through their creative practice. These talks hope to create an inspirational series of talks from those already established in their field, as well as those who are at the beginning of their journey. The aim of this project is to connect, grow, network and inspire.

Bettina Way - Design Director / Educator Watermark Creative
Inquisitive and explorative by nature, Bettina has developed an interest in the marriage between design and technology, with a focus on carefully considered user experiences.
She’s practiced in the design industry for over 15 years, developing a digital focus. She’s worked with both international and local clients on brand creation, UX/UI design, and communications. She’s passionate about building strong partnerships and acknowledges the value of collaboration in the design process, which has been paramount to the growth of her practice.
Her focus now is to foster the design community by assisting young designers in developing their skills to remain relevant, competitive and ultimately to discover their own creative identities.
Haylie Craig (They/Them) - Creative Director, Colenso BBDO
Haylie is a creative who sits at the intersection of art and technology - empowering clients and partners to tell stories and reach audiences in new ways. She delivers digital, data, integrated communication campaigns, create brand platforms and use old/new/invent tech led innovation solutions, in order to help solve client's business problems. But in the end nothing beats an epic idea at the core of it wrapped in a meaningful story.
Nikki McLay - AI Architect
Nikki uses AI to create artworks made from her own handmade datasets. These datasets are made from images, texts and location data which is drawn from personal narratives and which she sees as a living archive to work with.
During the slow process of creation she explores themes around how we relate to the world around us that is increasingly influenced by what we do, what we say and how we move through it.
