The Auckland Art Gallery will be screening a series of film about the fascinating fashion industry introduced by fashion expert Angela Lassig, who puts modern-day haute couture and street apparel into historic perspective.
Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons left the Christian Dior fashion house unexpectedly in 2015, but "Dior and I" (2014) gives you a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of his first haute couture collection as Dior’s new artistic director—a true labour of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure-filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand’s past, the film is also a colourful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons’ vision.
