Located next to the Town Hall and a short stroll from Aotea Sqaure, Tanuki Japanese Restaurant is the perfect spot for a drink and an assortment of moreish Japanese food.
Opening the traditional sliding door to this hidden treasure, you may feel like you've been transported to an intimate Sake Bar in Japan.
The menu is colourful, mouthwatering and very affordable - we'd recommend ordering a few dishes for a range of delicious flavours, think of your Tanuki's dining experience as Japanese tapas.
Our recommendation? Everything is great, but don't leave without trying the broccoli with sesame and mayonnaise sauce - you'll definitely need more than one plate of this delicious side order!
Don't forget that Tanuki's Cave is right downstairs and is an ideal spot to migrate to after dinner.
