Summer Loving marks Viva Voce’s first time back in its Concert Chamber 'home' since the pandemic, and will be presented with the choir’s customary theatrical flair, sense of humour, and (of course) fine singing.

Acclaimed Auckland chamber choir Viva Voce (conducted by John Rosser) presents "Summer Loving", a concert of largely a cappella choral music to celebrate both the arrival of summer and the feelings of 'human affection' that often accompany the sunny season!

In a hugely varied programme that includes Renaissance madrigalsRomantic partsongsmusical theatre pieces and popular hits, the choir sings music by Schumann, Elgar, Delius, Gershwin, Whitacre and the Beatles, along with choruses from La La Land and, of course, Grease. The undoubted highlight will be American Morten Lauridsen's superb choral song cycle Les Chansons des Roses (Rose Songs), a wonderfully elegant depiction of the flower most associated with summer and love.

$2 per hour to a max of $12 on weekends and a $12 flat rate for weekday evenings at The Civic car park. Find out more
