Raumati Reads is a free, fun summer reading challenge designed for primary school-aged children to help them maintain their reading levels over the summer break, ready for the new school year. It's a must-do for the school holidays with free events and activities with exciting challenge prizes to be won from Auckland Live, Auckland Zoo, Auckland Pools and Leisure, Auckland FC and the NZ Maritime Museum.
You can register in person at the Auckland Central Library, collect your challenge pack and get started on a summer of reading adventures! Please note that tamariki must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

Scavenger Hunt | 5 JAN - 1 FEB
Pick up a scavenger hunt from the desk and spend the summer exploring the library. The scavenger hunt can be done at any time from 5 January 2025 to 1 February 2026, but please note the Research and Heritage floor closes at 6PM on weekdays and is closed on Sundays.
Cardboard Animals with the Re-Creators | 28 JAN | 2 - 4PM
Make a stand-up cardboard animal, using the slot technique. Suitable for ages 5 and over.
Summer Whānau Movie | 30 JAN | 2 - 3.45PM
Chill out at the library with a summer movie. Suitable for whānau ages 5 and over.
