Mākete brings together local makers, artists and businesses with handcrafted taonga, contemporary Māori art, fashion, gifts and delicious kai. Whether you’re coming in for Poumatua, meeting friends, on your lunch break or exploring the city, come along, grab some kai, browse the stalls and enjoy the atmosphere of Aotea Square.

Experience the timeless excellence of Māori performing arts as four legendary kapa haka groups Waihīrere, Te Waka Huia, Ngāti Rangiwewehi, Te Rōpū Manutaki unite for one unforgettable day. Opened by tangata whenua Ngāti Whātua ki Tāmaki, the morning will also acknowledge the composers, tutors, leaders and kaihaka whose contribution continues to influence generations today.
