OurMarch champions the kaupapa of OurPride, through liberating and celebrating with Auckland’s rainbow communities.

In 1972, New Zealand’s Gay Liberation Front, led by Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, rallied around the Statue of Queen Victoria in Albert Park for one of the earliest public demonstrations of Aotearoa’s Gay Liberation Movement, paving the way for many of the freedoms we enjoy today.

As we celebrate Auckland’s first Pride Festival of a new decade, we invite our community to gather around the Statue of Victoria, as we reclaim the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau for OurMarch, and champion the issues still holding our community back today.

OurMarch champions the kaupapa of OurPride, through liberating and celebrating with Auckland’s rainbow communities. OurMarch is a demonstration of energy, unity, and the rich diversity of our community.

Gathering in Albert Park at 4:00pm, OurMarch follows Bowen and Victoria Streets, before dancing up Queen Street and concluding in Aotea Square for OurParty.

All those who respect the kaupapa of the event and Auckland Pride Festival are welcome to participate in this open-access event, with no cost to participate. Whether coming alone or as a group, we invite you to march, walk, and wheel together with Auckland Pride. To register, REGISTER HERE and follow the on-screen instructions

OurMarch is presented by Auckland Pride as part of Auckland Pride Festival 2020, 1 - 16 February 2020. Learn more about Auckland Pride at aucklandpride.org.nz or follow Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or YouTube.
