Accessible to all people of Aotearoa, M9 presents unique Māori voices to celebrate Te Ao Māori through Whakaaturanga, Whakaari, Whakawhiti Kōrero - Presentation, Performance, Conversation.
To close off 2024 on a high, this exciting iteration of M9 explores the dynamic intersection where sport, culture and politics collide. In this current political climate, sport continues to bring us all together - hei oranga mō tātou katoa.
The event will feature nine prominent Māori leaders celebrated for their contributions to advancing sport in Aotearoa.
The sporting champions joining the lineup are:
● Honey Hireme-Smiler (Dual International Rugby Legend)
● Daniel Kereopa (Aotearoa Master Waterman)
● Peter Cowan (NZ Paralympic Canoeist)
They will join the existing kaikōrero:
● Tawera Nikau (Rugby League Legend, Presenter)
● Jenny-May Clarkson (Former Silver Fern, Presenter)
● Mea Motu (Boxer IBO World Super Bantamweight Champion)
● Piri Weepu (Former All Black, Hurricanes, Blues, Television Host)
● Professor Dame Farah Palmer (Former Black Fern, Deputy Chair NZRFU)
● Tupuria King (Waka Ama World Champion, Founder of Train Like a King)
