A day filled with music, dance, food and meeting our Filipino community to celebrate Christmas.
Parol is the Filipino term for Christmas Lantern. Traditionally, parols have a star-shaped framework made of bamboo sticks which are then covered by coloured pieces of either Japanese paper or crêpe paper. The most common form is a five-pointed star with two decorative "tails". The parol has become the iconic symbol of Christmas for the Filipinos. It adorns every house during Christmas.
The Filipinos celebrate the longest Christmas season in the world. From September, they start counting down the days until Christmas. The Christmas season means spending time with loved ones, giving gifts, and generally being thankful to God for all the blessings showered on them throughout the year! It is a season filled with music, great food and even greater fellowship with others. We'd like to share with you how we celebrate the Christmas season and spread love and peace throughout our community.
