Captains, Collectors, Friends & Adventurers invites you to discover the Maritime Museum’s hidden treasures. Come face-to-face with some of Aotearoa’s legendary mariners, peer into miniature worlds and marvel at the unexpected links that can be made between people, places and events.

From albatrosses to textile art, vintage menus to a bell that travelled the globe, there’s something for the captain, collector, friend and adventurer in all of us.

Knots with Finn Ferrier

Learn Finn's knotting techniques to make your own necklace or artwork. In this workshop, Finn will teach you the basic technique to knot rope into sculptural forms.

Printing Pennants with Louise Sly 

Guided by artist and maker Louise Sly, learn how to print your own personalised pennant using the international code of symbols as your inspiration. 

27 May

Miniatures with Trilby Conway

Pack your tiny togs and learn t make a miniature 1:12-scale beach changing shed. Trilby wil supply you with a kit to create your project, which you'll then have the opportunity to personalise.
