Wallace Arts Trust Collection at Auckland Council - Unlocked Collections

Experience a taste of the prolific Wallace Arts Trust Collection in this exhibition of dozens of works selected by Auckland Council’s Arts and Culture team and the Wallace Arts Trust.

The Wallace Arts Trust is a major player in the local arts scene, with a vision to “support, promote and expose New Zealand contemporary artists”. Sir James Wallace began collecting New Zealand art in the mid-1960s, with a particular focus on the work of emerging artists.

The works in this exhibition both reflect the hanging space – the early nineties design of the council building at 135 Albert Street – and the greater context of Auckland with its cultural and geographic diversity.

Discover works by artists including Julian Dashper, Glenn Jowitt, Emily Karaka and more in this intriguing sample of the 9,000 strong Wallace collection.
